Odoh Returns as Nigeria's Number One

Andrew Oche Odoh won the his third victory this year on the local tour and returned to the number one spot for the first time this year on the Nigerian ranking toppling Ghanaian-born Emos Korblah
Oche in sizzling form at the 2nd Keedak Pro-Am Golf Championship at Otukpo Golf Club over the weekend led the field of 58 professionals throughout the four day encounter.
"My game is just right. My game plan for this tournament worked out well and most of all I am very happy to return to the number one spot" he told BusinessDay after shooting 272, sixteen under par at the 72 holes event.
Opening with a flawless seven under par on first day of the event, that included five birdies and one eagle, the 65, he admitted was the first bogey-free round he had played in a long time:
"I cherished that round it was the best I have had in a long time and I believed it set the tone for the other rounds I played at the event." He added.
He shot 70 two under on day-two. And survived the rain on the third day to coast home 71 one under after the 54 th hole. His last day 66, five under par crowned his spectacular form at the event.
Like most other players Oche believed that the game was more a preparatory game for the on-coming PGA Tour event that is expectedly would be offering $75,000 (about ten million naira).
Emos Korbah who lost the number one spot over the weekend placed second finishing eight stroked behind Odoh whom he admitted is untouchable for now:
"Oche is good and for his age (26) he has a bright future ahead of him. I respect him" His win fetched him the N200, 000 winner's cheque in the N2million naira worth event.
Abeokuta based former Nigerian Open champion, Lateef Lasisi shot 288, three under par to pick the third place at the event.
The Keedak Pro-Am event also featured notable amateur player with the senate president, Senator David Mark leading some of the notable players on the field. Aba based Magnus Onumajuru picked the category one honour squeezing past Kaduna's Paul Everest and Farouk Danjuma from Air Assault Golf Club in Port Harcourt.
Friday Obe picked the Seniors Tour's best players' prize leaving Bryan Gberevbie and PGA' s former director Tony Uduimoh to grapple with the second and third place respectively.
